Buccal Sculpt and TMJ Release is an advanced intraoral massage technique that works both inside and outside the face simultaneously, reaching the muscles that external massage alone cannot access. Using gloved hands, we release the masseter, buccinator, and surrounding muscles of mastication directly at the source, along with the fascia restrictions underneath that hold tension in place and affect how your face ages over time.
Most clients do not realize how much they are holding in their jaw until it begins to release. The tension that drives your clenching, your grinding, your headaches, and the tightness you wake up with every morning lives in tissue that a standard facial massage never touches. This treatment goes there.
The result is a jaw that moves freely, a face that sits differently, and a nervous system that finally gets the message to let go.
Your mouth guard protects your teeth from the grinding, but it does nothing to stop the clenching that causes the pain. You still wake up with a sore jaw and a tight neck, and that tension can follow you all day.
The problem is that the tension you feel is stored in muscles no standard massage can reach. To get real relief, you have to release the pattern where it starts: inside the jaw. This is a treatment that addresses the source, not just the symptom.
Your session begins externally. We warm the tissue with sculpting strokes along the jaw, cheeks, and neck, increasing circulation and preparing the deeper muscle layers for the work ahead. This phase alone is more targeted than most full facial massages.
From there we move into the intraoral work. Using sanitized medical grade gloves, we work one side of the face at a time, massaging the inner cheek, the jaw muscles, and the fascia from the inside out. The sensation is similar to deep tissue work. You may feel intensity on tight spots, which is normal, but the treatment should never be painful. Most clients feel the release happening in real time.
We close with lymphatic drainage strokes to flush what was moved during the session, reducing puffiness, clearing stagnation along the jawline, and leaving the face visibly lighter and more defined.
Sue listens to your feedback before and during every session. The tools she incorporates, which may include photobiomodulation, red light therapy, compression therapy, subdermal work, and more, are chosen based on what your body actually needs that day. It is a clinical decision, not a checklist.
The Buccal Sculpt and TMJ Release delivers relief from jaw tension, clenching, and grinding, along with a reduction in the tension headaches and TMJ discomfort that follow. You will notice natural contouring and jawline definition as lymphatic de-puffing clears stagnant fluid from the lower face. Circulation improves, skin takes on a healthier glow, fascia releases and regains elasticity, and the nervous system drops into a deep state of relaxation that most people do not realize they needed until they feel it.
This treatment is for you if you wake up with jaw soreness or a tight neck, if you clench or grind with or without a mouth guard, or if you get tension headaches that build through the day. It is also the right choice if you have been told you have TMJ disorder and want a non-pharmaceutical option, if you want natural contouring and jawline definition without injectables, or if you are simply looking for deep relaxation that goes beyond what a standard massage can reach.
It should not be. Certain spots may feel intense, similar to having a tight muscle worked out, but the goal is release not discomfort. Most clients describe the sensation as a deep satisfying pressure that gives way to relief. We adjust throughout the session based on your feedback and the pressure never exceeds what your body is ready for.
Yes. We use medical grade disposable gloves and strict sanitation protocols for every session. The intraoral work is performed with fresh gloves and the treatment room is fully sanitized between appointments.
For ongoing tension or TMJ symptoms, an initial series of weekly or biweekly sessions builds the most noticeable and lasting results. Once the jaw has released and the headaches have quieted, monthly maintenance keeps everything moving in the right direction. Sue will give you a specific recommendation based on what she finds in your first session.
Please reschedule if you have active cold sores or oral ulcers, a recent dental procedure within two to four weeks, open cuts or infections in or around the mouth, or uncontrolled TMJ disorders. If you have had recent Botox or filler, wait at least two weeks before booking. If you are under medical or dental care for your jaw, please get provider clearance first.
